Fall is here! And we’re back at it with OpenHeritage
This autumn we’ve got several things cooking to make this season be our best yet as we open up our participatory platform for ideas, games, collaboration, and more.
Customizing Decidim for OpenHeritage
As our projects progress, we’ve been collaborating to create new and innovative ways for Decidim to fit different contexts and needs. We’re excited to announce that thanks to some collaboration and Ivan’s programming skills we’re creating some new features on Decidim. In creating these new features, we also realize that there’s so much more possibility ahead of us. Let’s keep talking and check out our blog to see what projects we’ve been working with and the changes to come.

Decidim the Game🎲
At the end of September the Platoniq team set out create a workshop for Decidim through play and discussion at #AACC_Mallorca. The team held a workshop where three different collaborative community projects came together to play the analog version of Decidim to help them plan and envision a future with more participation and transparency.
Progress from Praga, Warsaw and Visiting Centocelle, Rome
While each project continues to grow and develop, we wanted to share some of the progress from different OH partners. In Praga this summer, they launched their first call for participants to collaborate in series of workshops that will hopefully rethink heritage and bring new small businesses into the Praga neighborhood. The road was a little bumpy in the beginning due to some translation issues, but we’re eager to see the next steps in their journey.
Summer in Rome
Also Nadia has been visiting different lab sites and this summer she went to visit the Centocelle Lab to help transition the resident led Coop to become the administrators of the neighborhood’s Decidim website. During the session we covered some important basics and the team was able to begin writing their first process during our session 😎
Engagement strategy Step 7: Creating a Collaborative Text
This past year has been a whirlwind with the OpenHeritage kickoff with getting to know each other, getting our labs up and running, and learning to use and implement new tools for more transparency and open participation.
We realise that what we’re learning is invaluable because of the practices we’re generating but also because of our context. At this juncture in our journey and new engagement strategy, we propose to collectively take a pause, reflect, and celebrate the milestone of getting our projects off the ground we want and write a joint manifesto or open letter to encapsulate the important lessons and principles within our work. This would serve to make a statement but an entryway into our work on the platform and our participatory principles and paradigm. Watch out soon for a call to action! And some great ideas from Markus and his colleague, Sandy, to follow.
Work Package 3 Assembly
Are you working on Work Package 3? Join a discussion on our Meta Decidim to collaborate on ideas and relevant topics that need to addressed within the project. In this space the main ‘axes’ of discussion are ‘community involvement and multi-stakeholder governance; resource integration for financial and economic sustainability and territorial, regional integration’. See you there!
