Levolin inhaler, also known as levosalbutamol inhaler, is a bronchodilator medication commonly prescribed for the management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It contains the active ingredient levosalbutamol, which belongs to a class of medications called beta-agonists. Levolin inhaler works by relaxing the muscles in the airways, making it easier to breathe and relieving symptoms such as wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath.
Using a Levolin inhaler correctly is crucial to ensure effective delivery of the medication to the lungs. Before using the inhaler, it's essential to shake it well and remove the cap. Then, exhale fully to empty the lungs before bringing the inhaler to your mouth. Place the mouthpiece between your lips and create a tight seal around it. As you begin to inhale slowly and deeply, simultaneously press down on the canister to release one puff of medication. Continue to inhale deeply to ensure the medication reaches deep into the lungs. After inhaling, hold your breath for about 10 seconds before exhaling slowly. If more than one puff is prescribed, wait for about a minute before taking the next puff. Finally, replace the cap to protect the inhaler from dust and debris.
