Mutual Support, Debates & Great Ideas for Improving the OH Participatory Platform
A space for dialog, co-creation, and questions š between members of our Open Heritage community.
Decidimfest Barcelona
This fall has been packed with events and workshops even until the end, one our favorite spaces to share and learn in terms of open and tech oriented spaces has been the Decidimfest.Ā
At the Decidimfest, Platoniq held several workshops to demystify the platform and much of the ideas that surround it. To start with Ivan, an integral part to OpenHeritageās technical management, gave a talk on what to do after downloading Decidim. While many communities, municipalities, and collectives get excited at first click, itās trying to adapt the platform afterwards that becomes the sticking point. Ivan shared some of the more code oriented parts of what it means to bring your decision making and democratic processes online. This process was also aided with the use of our special edition of āDecidim, The Gameā. āDecidim, the Gameā is an analog game and planning tool created within Platoniq to help groups and individuals think about planning a participatory process and the different phases and facets along the way.Ā
However, democracy and participation are more than the tools, they are also ideas, people, and practice. Olivier a member of Platoniq leads a double life with his history and work at Goteo. At the Decidimfest, he along with a panel of experts shared experiences with crowdvocacy and the intersection of platforms, decision making, and artificial intelligence. This years Decidimfest brought together some of the most dedicated and brightest minds working on technology, community, and democracy.Ā
We at Platoniq were more than happy to be able share as well as listen to the talks and workshops to help build upon our work at OpenHeritage.
